Chandigarh: Punjab government has decided to run free self-employment training courses for agriculture and allied services under the skill development mission. A meeting to discuss various issues related to skill development and vocational training programmes was held on Saturday at Punjab Bhawan under the chairmanship of technical education minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Channi said Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu), Ludhiana, would run the skill development courses for agriculture and allied services. These courses would be run under the recognition of prior learning (RPL) programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna scheme. During the meeting, it was also discussed that these courses, which would be run in the skill universities, would be based on the embedded apprenticeship programme.
