Not paying challans can land you in jail. Three persons learned this the hard way as the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Erramanzil, sentenced them to two days’ jail.
In addition to this, two persons who were driving without driving licenses were also awarded two days imprisonment each. Four persons had their driving licence permanently cancelled and 26 had their licence suspended. Of 94 cases booked, cops have slapped fine of ₹10.58 lakh.
Those convicted in drunk driving cases will have trouble securing government jobs, passports and visa clearance.
