An Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy shot a carjacking suspect following a pursuit that ended in Utica, according to reports.

Oakland Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a carjacking incident Friday night in Pontiac about 9:20 p.m. when they pursued a suspect by car into Macomb County.

Deputies stopped the suspect’s vehicle in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and Hall Road, the report said. The suspect showed a “Rambo-style knife” and was shot in the buttocks, another report said.

Macomb County County detectives will investigate the shooting by the deputy while the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the probe into the carjacking, said Macomb Sheriff’s Sgt. Renee Yax. That’s a standard procedure in officer-involved shootings to provide an independent review of the incident.
