Boys basketball roundup: Fort Jennings upends Ottoville

FORT JENNINGS — Fort Jennings took full advantage of 33 trips to the free-throw line Friday night in posting a 56-42 Putnam County League boys basketball victory over Ottoville, in a battle of longtime rivals who each had won six of their previous seven games.
The Musketeers (11-4, 2-1 PCL) went 24 of 33 from the stripe, including 18 of 24 in the final period, outscoring the Big Green 24-8 at the line on the night.
Fort Jennings, which also benefitted from eight 3-pointers, led 35-25 after three quarters before getting just one 3-point field goal in a 21-point final quarter.
Brandon Wehri, who finished with a team-leading 15 points, went 10 of 13 at the line in the fourth period. Erik Klausing, JIanFinn and Cole Horstman each added nine points.
Ottoville (13-4, 1-1) saw Nick Moorman (14 points) and Logan Kemper (13) reach double figures with Moorman scoring 11 of his points in the final period.

PAULDING — Ada’s boys hung tight with Paulding in the final three quarters on Friday, but a 16-point first-quarter deficit was too much to overcome in a 63-40 Northwest Conference loss.
Seth Conley, as the only Ada player in double figures, led the Bulldogs (3-13, 1-2 NWC) with 13 points and five rebounds.
Jaret Miller (12 points) and Marcus Miller (11) combined for 23 points to lead Paulding (6-8, 4-1). Three others scored at least eight points for the Panthers.

NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel outscored Sandusky St. Mary’s 22-15 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 60-57 victory in a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division game.
Ben Dryfuse and Bryce Hohman did most of the damage for New Riegel (8-4, 5-2 SBC River). Dryfuse had a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds, while Hohman had 21 points. Austin Lecallett had six points and eight rebounds, and Cole Noftz added four assists and four steals.
Myles Bruno had 18 points and four assists to lead Sandusky St. Mary’s (7-8, 3-3 SBC River). Nathan Roesch had 10 points and a game-best 13 rebounds.

DOLA — Lima Perry shot 55 percent from the field, jumped ahead early and rolled over winless Hardin Northern 97-30 in Northwest Central Conference action.
The Commodores (7-7, 2-3 NWCC) converted 38 of 39 field goal attempts, including 29 of 49 inside the arc in handing the Polar Bears (0-4 NWCC) their 14th straight loss on the season.
Logan Dray’s six 3-pointers and 26 points led Perry with Jami Whiteside adding 16, Chazz Jackson 11 and Louis Hoersten 10.
Hardin Northern got 13 points from Owen Wetherill.

HAMLER — Kaiden Bedsole and Rigo Ramos combined for seven 3-pointers and 31 points to lead Archbold over Patrick Henry 63-23 on Friday in Northwest Ohio Athletic League play.
Bedsole knocked down a game-high four 3s and led with 16 points for the Blue Streaks (10-3, 2-1 NWOAL). Ramos scored 15 and grabbed five rebounds. Eli Miller scored five points, but led Archbold with nine assists and three steals.
Xavier Wensink’s eight points were the high for the Patriots (5-9, 1-2).

LIMA — Jake Dible and Jay Kaufman combined to score 43 points as unbeaten Ottawa-Glandorf rolled to an 80-61 Western Buckeye League win over Lima Shawnee.
Dible led the way with 22 points while Kaufman chipped in 21 as the Titans improved to 15-0 overall and 5-0 in the Western Buckeye League. Ethan White added 12 points and Owen Hiegel nine for Ottawa-Glandorf.
Johnny Caprella tossed in 15 points and Tyler Moore notched 13 for Lima Shawnee (11-5, 2-2).
