World champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken won the last luge doubles race of the season to win the European title and successfully defend their overall World Cup title on Saturday.
The Germans were quickest in the first run and fast enough in their second to defeat Latvian brothers Andris and Juris Sics by 0.055 seconds, and the Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt by 0.226.
Eggert and Benecken have an unassailable lead of 1,070 points in the overall World Cup standings ahead of Sunday's final sprint. Wendl and Arlt are on 877, and Peter Penz and Georg Fischler on 786.
The competition is doubling as the International Luge Federation's 49th European Championships.
