An apartment caught fire Saturday morning near William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
At about 9:46 a.m. firefighters were called to battle heavy smoke and flames coming out of a residence at the High Vista Apartments, 5041 Alabama Street.
El Paso Fire Deputy Chief Rick Carson said that when firefighters arrived to the scene smoke and fire were coming out of the windows and door in the first floor of the two story apartment.
“As you can see the fire spread into the second floor and then into the attic,” he said.
Carson said the residents of the apartment were not at home at the time of the incident. He said there were no injuries reported.
Forty-four firefighters and 16 fire units responded to the scene, Carson said.
The cause of the fire remained unknown Saturday morning. A fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate.
