For four years he has fought every minute of every day for the right to live.

His family have watched on in awe as Kian Musgrove has never, for one second, given up his battle against neuroblastoma.

The North East public, along with people across the world, have raised more than £600,000 to send the schoolboy for pioneering treatment in New York.

But now, little Kian’s fate is in the hands of the gods.

Having just returned from America where he has undergone his final round of treatment, the youngster’s family can only pray his cancer agony has come to an end.

Kian was initially diagnosed with the massively aggressive condition at 18 months old. He was cared for at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, before travelling to America for the revolutionary treatment that cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Now, Kian and mum Kat face an agonising wait to see if that treatment will finally end their nightmare.

Doting mum Kat, 30, said: “I’m hoping and praying that it is the last treatment he has to have and he can just go on to live a normal and happy life.

“He had the scans and there was no sign of the cancer but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t there.

“The scans can’t pick up small specs of cancer on the machine so we are praying that it doesn’t come back. We want to put all of this behind us.”

Kian, from Prudhoe, Northumberland, will undergo tests over the next year at the RVI to check if the treatment has worked.

Kat said: “He seems to be doing well but he has felt a little bit sick. It’s been tough but he has come so far.

“He is only young so we hope that he forgets about the worst of it and as he gets older he’ll forget more and more.”

Kian was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma in October 2013.

The illness attacked his nerve cells around the kidneys on an adrenal gland where a tumour had developed. It then travelled around his body and spread to his bones and across his pelvis.

After beating the disease, the cancer came back in December 2015 and he started undergoing treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, in New York, the following year.

Kian’s inspiring battle has drawn admiration from across the world, with music mogel Simon Cowell donating thousands of pounds to pay for the youngster’s flights to America.

Meanwhile, the schoolboy’s family have worked tirelessly to raise tens of thousands of pounds for relapse therapy.
