Here are five sporting events we are watching this week:

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE AT TERREBONNE BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER

With the prep soccer playoffs on the horizon, the Central Lafourche and Terrebonne boys and girls teams close out their regular seasons on Monday night at Thomas B. Smith Memorial Stadium in Houma.

The girls game is set to start at 5 p.m. and the boys game is set for 7 p.m. and both are makeups from earlier in the season.

The Terrebonne boys have clinched their second straight district title and all four teams are expected to make the playoffs and will look to head into the postseason with some momentum.

PREP PLAYOFF SOCCER PAIRINGS RELEASE DATES

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association will release the girls and boys soccer playoff pairings this week and numerous area teams are expected to make the cut.

The girls pairings will be released on Tuesday and the boys pairings will be released on Wednesday.

E.D. WHITE CATHOLIC AT VANDEBILT CATHOLIC BOYS SOCCER

The District 5-III boys soccer title will be decided on Tuesday night at Buddy Marcello Stadium on the Vandebilt Catholic campus in Houma when the Terriers host E.D. White Catholic at 6:45 p.m.

The Cardinals are 7-0-0 in district and beat the Terriers 5-2 in the first matchup this season and Vandebilt enters at 6-1-0 in the league.

A win by E.D. White would give the Cardinals the outright title, while a Vandebilt win would force a split of the district crown.

CENTRAL LAFOURCHE AT H.L. BOURGEOIS BOYS BASKETBALL

Another big District 7-5A tilt is set for Thursday night when the Central Lafourche boys travel to face H.L. Bourgeois at 7 p.m.

The Braves won the first district matchup between the teams 66-60 on Jan. 9 in Mathews.

SOUTH LAFOURCHE AT SOUTH TERREBONNE GIRLS BASKETBALL

The South Lafourche girls basketball team will travel to South Terrebonne for a key District 7-4A game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bourg.

The game was originally set to be the district opener for both teams earlier in the season, but the game was postponed because of inclement weather.
