Three killed in Wellawaya accident

An accident in Wellawaya on Saturday morning claimed three lives,  leaving two others seriously injured. The accident took place in an area know as ‘Ice-Peella’ on the Wellawaya – Thanamalwila Main Road.

A car travelling from Thanamalwila to Wellawaya collided head with a SLTB bus resulting in the death of three people in the car.

According to the police,  three others were injured and three of them are in a serious condition.The injured were rushed to the Thanamalwila Base Hospital and were transferred to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment.

The police further stated that a group from Imaduwa, Galle were travelling in the car. Two women in the bus were admitted to the Thanamalwila Hospital for treatment.

Police believes that the accident took place because the driver of the car lost control at the wheel. The driver of the SLTB bus was arrested by police.
