Report: carjacking suspect shot in Utica

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office today is investigating the shooting of a carjacking suspect by an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy following a pursuit that ended in Utica.

According to a WDIV-TV (Channel 4) report, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a carjacking incident Friday night in Pontiac when the suspect fled. The pursuit went into Macomb County when the suspect drove into Utica about 9:20 p.m.

Oakland County deputies were able to stop the suspect’s vehicle in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and Hall Road.

The report indicated the suspect was shot in the buttocks, but no further details were available.

Macomb County County detectives were called in to handle the shooting investigation, while the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the probe into the carjacking, according to WDIV>

That’s a standard procedure in officer-involved shootings to provide an independent review of the incident.
