MORENCI — Morenci city employees eligible for health insurance will continue to be served by the same company for the rest of 2018.
The Morenci City Council voted Monday to continue offering the Healthy Blue Achieve PPO plan to those city employees eligible for health insurance through the city.
The decision came after those employees, following a Jan. 4 meeting, asked to continue with the plan. The city’s health insurance renewal for the year is due Feb. 1. City treasurer Crystal White and Gurdjian Insurance representative Londa Pickles have been working with city administrator Michael Sessions to decide on that recommendation.
The insurance plan will cost the city $3,885.77 a month, up from $3,548.35 last year. The 8.7 percent increase is something the city can withstand, Sessions said.
The employees are responsible for a 20 percent co-pay, with the city covering the other 80 percent.
