FREEHOLD, New Jersey — Unfortunate events — not even a medical emergency — would not stop Brian and Maria Schultz from tying the knot.
On Jan. 2, the couple from Ocean Township, N.J., went to the Monmouth County (N.J.) Courthouse with their mothers to get married.

But Brian's mom suddenly had trouble breathing and thought she was having an asthma attack, noted the Monmouth County Sherrif's Office Facebook page. Sheriff's officers took her to the courthouse's women's restroom and began administering oxygen. EMTs were called to take her to the hospital.
The sheriff's officers didn't want Brian's mom moving from the bathroom. But postponing the wedding would mean the couple would have to wait 45 days for a new marriage license. So they made it work.

Hon. Judge Katie Gummer performed the ceremony in the women's restroom. Video of the ceremony is in the sheriff's post.
"We are pleased to report that Mr. and Mrs. Schulz are doing great," the post said, "and so is mom."
