Indian businessman dies after fall from 5-storey building in Magura

An Indian businessman died after falling from a five-storey building in Magura Sadar upazila today while trying to flee confinement, police said.

The deceased was identified as Gobinda Kumar Biswas, 32, hailing from Madhyagram Thana of Chobbish Pargana in India who came to Bangladesh on business purposes on January 23, our Jhenidah correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station Ilias Hossain.

Gobinda came to Bangladesh on some business purposes to meet one Sarfaraj Hossain in Magura, the official said.

Gobinda was to collect a due of Tk 8 lakh from Sarfaraj, who allegedly confined him to a room in the building after denying the dues on January 23, Ilias Hossain said.

He might have fallen from the rooftop of the five-storey building around 7:30am while he was trying to flee the confinement, the official said.

Locals rushed him to Magura Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
