With the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here clearing him of the charge that he had outraged the modesty of a woman journalist, decks have been cleared for former Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran’s return to the State Cabinet.
The State leadership of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has already set in motion steps to get Mr. Saseendran back into the Cabinet. Party State president T.P. Peethambaran told reporters here shortly after the CJM Court’s verdict that he would apprise the NCP national leadership of the court verdict and proceed based on its directions.
The party leadership is already on record that Mr. Saseendran would get the Cabinet berth once he is cleared of the charge against him. Mr. Peethambaran is likely to get in touch with the NCP leadership on Sunday and call meetings of the party State committee within the coming few days to facilitate Mr. Saseendran’s re-entry into the Cabinet.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is reported to have spoken to Mr. Saseendran after the court verdict became known. He had also stated that the NCP leader could return to the Cabinet if his name is cleared.
