Alamogordo Fire Department, city and Otero County investigators continue their investigation of the Emmanuel’s Grill restaurant fire that destroyed the building Saturday morning, AFD Chief Jim LeClair said.
LeClair said AFD firefighters responded to the fire, 777 E. First St., in the Granada Shopping Center around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
He said no one was inside the building when firefighters arrived at the restaurant fire.
LeClair said no one was injured while fighting the fire.
“All fire staff are OK. Within about 5 minutes of our arrival the structure was fully engulfed with fire,” he said. “It appears the fire may have got into the attic. From that point, it just took off. We have city investigators and county investigators on scene right now doing the investigation.”
Emmanuel’s recently opened after the owners had renovated the building.
