Liverpool on red alert as Thomas Lemar is left out of Monaco squad AGAIN

LIVERPOOL target Thomas Lemar has not been included in Monaco’s squad to face Marseille tomorrow.

The France international has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield following Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona earlier this month.

The 22-year-old was reportedly rested for his side’s midweek cup defeat to Lyon in order to be fresh for Sunday’s crucial Ligue 1 clash.

But the Monaco website lists Lemar as being out with a bruised thigh.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he will not be rushed into spending the £142m the club received from the Coutinho sale.

The Reds have also been linked with Leicester star Riyad Mahrez, as well as West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini.

But Lemar’s absence form the squad has sparked rumours that the winger is set to sign for Liverpool before Wednesday’s deadline.

Coutinho was ruled out with a similar injury for two games before finalising his move to the Nou Camp and fans are convinced Lemar’s thigh problem is a smokescreen, considering the importance of the Marseille match.

Monaco are currently fourth in Ligue 1, just one point behind tomorrow’s opponents and two points shy of second-placed Lyon.

And Klopp may be reconsidering his transfer plans following this evening’s FA Cup exit at the hands of West Brom.

Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Tuesday with a trip to Huddersfield.
