ABILENE — The Brownwood Lady Lions chalked up their seventh victory in eight outings, and sixth by way of shutout, with an 8-0 triumph over the Abilene Cooper JV Friday night.
Aleyia Cotton recorded a hat trick with three goals, while Maddy Garza, Madison Cheeser, Taylar Kinzler, Khloe Tobien and Channing Barron also recorded goals for the Lady Lions. Brownwood attempted 26 shots with 20 on goals.
Garza, Miranda Guerrero and Valerie Sanchez finished with two assists apiece, while Tobien chipped in one.
Defensively, Cotton recorded two saves.
The Lady Lions (7-1) are back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Midland Lee.
Abilene Cooper 4, Lions 1
ABILENE — The Brownwood Lions jumped out to a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Abilene Cooper varsity stormed back in the second half as the Cougars claimed a 4-1 victory.
Braden Bushnell tallied the Lions lone goal on an assist from Joe Gosch.
Caleb Woodcock recorded 15 saves with three goals allowed, while Jakob Dorsett tallied a pair of saves with one goal surrendered.
The Lions (2-5-1) will hit the road to face Midland Lee at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
