After an intense bidding war between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, ace India spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin has been bought by KXIP for a whopping Rs 7.6 Cr. Kings XI have been very vocal in the bidding so far.
After much deliberation, Kings XI Punjab bid for Yuvraj Singh and he is sold for his base price of Rs 2 Crore. SRH were given the chance to use the RTM card for him but they chose not to use it. Yuvraj heads back to KXIP, where it all started for him in IPL.
The third round of the auction is underway now and it starts with an intense bidding war between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royal for India's second 300-man Karun Nair. Nair made his Test cricket debut in 2016 against England. He became the third player in international cricket to convert his maiden century into a triple century, by scoring an unbeaten 303 against England in his third Test.
Kings XI Punjab once again break their bank and this time they aquire the services of KL Rahul for a whopping amount of 11 crores. Punjab seems to be going for Indian players only at the moment as they have now got - Axar (retained), Aswhin, Yuvraj, Karun and now Rahul.
Kings XI Punjab get their hands on their first overseas players as they use the Right to Match card for South African star David Miller. Mumbai Indians had won the race for Miller with 3 crore bid but KXIP trumped them by using their RTM card.
Kings XI Punjab are killing it in the auction as they buy their second foreigner in Aaron Finch. The Australian big hitter goes to KXIP for 6.2 crore. Finch last played for Gujarat Lions in the cash-rich league. Having been around the block, Finch was first drafted into the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2010 and was in 2011, picked up by the Delhi Daredevils. He continued with them for two seasons and was later picked up by Pune Warriors India in 2013 and was with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. Finch has been bought by the Mumbai Indians in 2015 season, but he couldn't play for the team due to injury.
