Boys Basketball: Franklin rolls past Stoughton in Hockomock League matchup

Senior guard and captain Paul Mahon tossed in 21 points and visiting Franklin (12-1, 9-1 HL) pulled away in the half to rout Stoughton 93-59 in a Hockomock League game on Friday night.

Matt Elias and Chris Edgehill scored 16 points apiece, and Jack Rodgers added 14 points for the Panthers.

Leading 48-37 at halftime, Franklin broke it open to take a 70-41 lead after three quarters.

“Outside of the second quarter we did a great job” said Franklin coach C.J. Neely. “That was our highest point total of the year. We’re usually more of a defensive team. It was a beautiful team effort the way the guys shared the ball.”

Franklin hosts Sharon on Tuesday in a league game at 6:30 p.m.

WELLESLEY 62, NATICK 59 (OT): Junior guard Alex Stoddard scored 20 points to lead Wellesley to a thrilling overtime win over Bay State Conference rival Natick (9-4, 5-1 BSC).

Senior forward Ben Zimmerman tallied 12 points and senior forward Ryan Murrey tallied 14 points and hit a crucial 3-pointer with four seconds on the clock in regulation that tied the game 53-53 and sent it to overtime.

Natick's Will Brodnitski scored 18 points in the loss.

“We went up a few points to open overtime but they fought back to tie it back up,” said Wellesley coach Mike Reidy. “Then we went ahead and made our free throws from there to win it.”

Wellesley visits Walpole on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Natick next hosts Milton on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

HOLLISTON 61, FRAMINGHAM 53: Senior Andrew Lynch had 15 points to help lead Holliston (4-7) to a victory over non-league foe Framingham (1-7).

Sophomore Luke Campbell added 11 points in the win for the Panthers.

Framingham’s Matt Fonseca had 17 points.

Holliston hosts Norton on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

HOPKINTON 65, NORTON 46: Junior guard Ben McKenzie scored 21 points and had five assists in a Hopkinton (8-6) victory over Norton in Tri-Valley League action.

Junior guard Luke D’Aloia scored 10 points and had eight rebounds for the Hillers.

The Hillers led 13-11 after one quarter but had a big second quarter, taking a 34-19 lead into the break.

“It was very good defensive intensity and good rebounding,” Hopkinton coach Tom Keane said.

Hopkinton plays at Westwood in a TVL game on Tuesday.

DEDHAM 58, BELLINGHAM 47: Junior Michael Reissfelder had 16 points and nine rebounds, but Bellingham (9-5, 7-3 TVL) fell to Tri-Valley League  foe Dedham.

Juniors Corey Chiappone and Philip Jones had 10 points each.

Bellingham plays at Auburn on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

DOVER-SHERBORN 54, MILLIS 52: Junior Brett Stark had 21 points and eight rebounds as Dover-Sherborn (6-8, 4-6 TVL) held on to defeat Millis (3-8, 2-7 TVL) in a Tri-Valley League contest.

Senior Oliver Asaker had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Millis senior PJ Adams had 12 points and senior Ryan Daniel had 10 points.

Dover-Sherborn plays at Medway on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Millis hosts Hopedale on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

ALGONQUIN 85, ST. BERNARD’S 53: Brian Duffy had 23 points as Algonquin (9-2) defeated non-league foe St. Bernard’s.

Danny Furey had 15 points, Sean Cullen had 13 points and Kyle Henderson added 12 points.

Algonquin hosts Westford on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

HOPEDALE 59, DOUGLAS 26: Junior Colin Black scored 11 points to help lead Hopedale (6-7, 3-2 DVC) past Douglas in a Dual Valley Conference matchup.

Sophomore Dan Liberatore scored 10 points and senior Isaac Moore added nine in the win.

The Blue Raiders led 10-0 after the first quarter and 24-2 at halftime.

Hopedale plays at Millis on Monday in a non-league game.

ASSABET 63, ABBY KELLEY 52: Gerry McManus scored 23 points to lead Assabet (12-1, 9-1 CAL) past Abby Kelley in a Colonial Athletic League game.

Jeff Hunter added 14 points for the Aztecs in the win.

Assabet led 38-23 at halftime and 47-40 after three quarters.

BAY PATH 72, AMSA 48: Mark Bibiu scored 13 points for AMSA (6-7, 4-6 CAL) in a Colonial Athletic League loss to host Bay Path in Charlton.

Nick Gopaul added 10 points for the Eagles.

AMSA trailed 18-7 after the first quarter, 38-22 at halftime and 55-32 after three.

“It was just one of those games that you have sometimes,” said AMSA coach Joe Ciolino. “They played well and made their shots and we didn’t. It’s back to the drawing board.”

AMSA plays at Keefe Tech on Tuesday in a CAL game at 4 p.m.
