Three persons were killed and five others critically injured in a road accident occurred at Kudaoya on the Thanamalwila - Wellawaya main road at around 11 am today (Jan. 27).

Police said a motor car with 6 occupants had collided head-on with a SLTB bus causing the accident.

Police said that the car had travelled at an excessive speed and then veered off the road.

The car driver and two others died upon admission to Thanamalwila Hospital while three others were transferred to Hambantota Hospital for further treatment.

Two women onboard the bus were also injured and they are receiving treatment at Thanamalwila Hospital.

The bus driver was arrested by police.
