Five Es - elevate, expand, enhance, exhibit, and ensure - are essential for the success of the company, according to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudan.
He was addressing the staff at the plant on the Republic Day after hoisting the national flag. “Elevate the levels of performance through higher volumes and enhance the commitment towards safety, house keeping, energy efficiency and R&D," he said.
He said the RINL had made significant strides on all fronts with many new records in 2017. The finished steel production grew by 24 %, captive power generation up by 21% , labour productivity by 15%, PCI by 100 % , and blast furnace productivity by 7 %. Marketing initiatives helped the RINL record a growth of 18 % in sales volume despite “periods of lull” in the markets. He said that the RINL had successfully forayed into coastal shipping for the first time as an alternative to the present modes of logistics.

As part of Republic Day celebrations, G.S.V.S.S.S Prasad Sarma, executive director of Visakh Refinery, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, unfurled the tri colour. He said “affordable and reliable energy is crucial to achieve a modern and developed India on a par with the advanced countries of the world.”
He laid emphasis on safety standards in refinery operations and mentioned about the upcoming projects in Visakh Refinery and production of Euro-IV standard petroleum products. He presented service awards to 30 employees.

NTPC
N K Sinha, group general manager of NTPC Simhadri, hoisted the national flag at Sadhana Kreeda Maidan ground. Speaking at the programme he remembered the sacrifices and contributions made by the freedom fighters and highlighted the glorious history of NTPC and its contributions to nation building. All senior officers and staff were present with their family members.
DCI
Unfurling the national flag, Rajesh Tripathi, Chairman and Managing Director, Dredging Corporation of India, said DCI will be commencing its overseas dredging project at Mongla Port in Bangladesh by this month end. Mr. Tripathi also said that discussions are on with BEXIMCO for one more prestigious overseas project at Kutubdia, Bangladesh.If DCI bags the project, then the work order will comprise one year of capital dredging and nine years of maintenance dredging.

Republic Day was clebrated at VSEZ. Sobhana K.S.Rao, Development Commissioner, hoisted the national flag.
