EUGENE — Jack Courtemanche and Chase Cutsforth both scored in double figures as host Marist held off Ashland, 43-38, in Midwestern League action Friday.
Courtemanche scored a team-high 12 points and Cutsforth 10 for the Spartans, who rebounded from a 26-point loss to Crater last week.
Marist (9-7, 3-3 MWL), which trails league-leading Crater by two games in the standings, led 14-6 after the first quarter and 31-25 heading into the fourth.
Ashland’s Anthony Swanson scored a game-high 18 points in the loss, with 10 coming in the second half. Adam Jones and Lowell Saulsberry added six points apiece and combined to hit all four of the Grizzlies’ 3-pointers.
Ashland plays Crater in Central Point on Tuesday.

CHURCHILL 79, EAGLE POINT 46: At Eagle Point, Churchill began to heat up in the second quarter and Eagle Point couldn’t keep up in a Midwestern League contest.
Zakk Scott registered 20 points and three steals for the Eagles (3-13, 2-4 MWL), and Dennen Adams added 10 points.
The Eagles’ Levi Scott generated five points, five assists and a pair of steals.
Kaelan O’Neil racked up 27 points for the Lancers (11-5, 3-3).

Javan Gail scored eight points and Ethan Hutsell seven for the Pirates, who dropped to 4-14 overall and 1-4 in league.
Klamath Union (9-9, 3-2) was paced by Noah Huffman’s 12 points.
