Volunteer Dog Walker Training: Noon to 2 p.m., AWSOM, 3129 Godfrey Ridge Drive, Stroudsburg. All are welcome. Teens who are 16 years or older must be with an adult. Registration starts at noon and training will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Because the safety of the dogs and volunteers is a priority, AWSOM requires each dog walker to use a particular leash. Rob Shane, Trout Unlimited’s Mid-Atlantic Organizer, will talk about TU’s initiatives in the region. Primarily, the focus of his team in the past year have been the Unassessed Waters Initiative, the Clean Water Rule, and threats to wild trout from energy and other forms of development. D&L Heritage Half Marathon Run/Walk: Registration open for this event to be held on Nov. 4, starting at Northern Lehigh High School, 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington and finishing at Canal Street Park, 16th and Canal streets, Northampton. Pay $65 until midnight on March 31. Registration increases to $70 on April 1. A gently sloping, 204-foot elevation drop and probable tailwind. Both runners and walkers encouraged.
