BOYS BASKETBALL

Coastal Christian 86, Wilmington Christian 53

The Centurions set a school record for wins with 19 thanks to another balanced scoring effort.

Michael Parker finished with 18 points, Caleb Vernon notched 14, Keshaun Pierce added 12 and Jaden Pierce had 11. Coastal Christian is now 19-5 on the season.

West Brunswick 70, Topsail 57 

Four Trojans reached double figures, led by 15 points and seven rebounds from Jadyn Parker.

Caleb Gilbert added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Rasheed Daniels and Jvian McCray each added 13 to improve West Brunswick to 10-9 overall and 3-6 in the Mideastern Conference.

Topsail (4-13, 1-6) was unable to replicate the same defensive effort as it did in a 57-55 win at West Brunswick on Jan. 12.

South Brunswick 75, North Brunswick 54

AJ Rossi led the way with 18 points, while Jace McKenney scored 15 and Xavier Williams and Kareem Randolph each added 14.

South Brunswick (13-5, 6-3 Mideastern) remains in third place in the league behind New Hanover and Hoggard.

North Brunswick (3-14, 0-10) was led by Trevon Faison, who scored 10.

Trask 75, East Carteret 67

Jaylin Mashack led the way with 24 points, while Jajuan Carr (14), Tiyaun Ballard (12) and Watson Orr (10) reached double figures in the road victory that gave the Titans the season sweep.

B.J. Jordan also scored nine for Trask (16-2, 7-1 Coastal 8).

Cape Fear Academy 58, Harrells Christian 51

Ivan Misic scored 15 points, with 11 coming in the second quarter, to lead the Hurricanes.

Freshman Trey Clucas and senior Grant Reed scored 11 and 10, respectively, to improve Cape Fear Academy to 14-11 overall and 5-3 in the Coastal Rivers Conference.

South Wake Homeschool 55, Southeastern Homeschool 50

Noah Sibbett poured in 24 points, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals were unable to overcome a poor third quarter in which they managed on six points.

Southeastern Homeschool (6-12, 4-9) got eight points from Philip Strickland and seven from Corbin Rosenbaum and Josh Moyers.

Whiteville 85, West Bladen 65

Cameron Richardson led the Wolfpack (8-11, 7-7 Three Rivers) with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Jatiek Martin also had a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards.

Ty Moss and Phillip Powell also reached double figures with 12 and 11, respectively.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

West Brunswick 53, Topsail 39

Breanna Mercer led the way with 15 points and Jaida Allen scored 14, knocking down three 3-pointers, to lead the Trojan to their fourth win in five contests.

Natrya Gore pitched in eight points, while Logan Locklear scored seven for West Brunswick (12-7, 5-4 Mideastern), which now owns a season sweep over the Pirates.

Topsail (11-7, 2-6) was paced with 16 points from Payton Little, while Sydney Hartgrove pitched in eight points on four field goals.

North Brunswick 44, South Brunswick 28

Freshman Nyah Perkins knocked down three 3-pointers to lead the Scorpions with 10 points.

North Brunswick (7-10, 2-7 Mideastern) also got eight points from Cailen Goodman and seven from Lydia Bradshaw.

Senior captain Vanessa Kales scored 10 for South Brunswick (0-15, 0-9).

Cape Fear Academy 50, Harrells Christian 27

Patricija Venckute hit four 3-pointers to total 14 points, while Kaia Simpson matched her in the scoring total as the Hurricanes remained undefeated in the Coastal Rivers Conference.

Sophomore standout Chloe Kernan scored 12 points with three treys of her own for CFA (17-3, 8-0)

Coastal Christian 36, Wilmington Christian Academy 14

Carson Fuller had a double-double from the defensive end with 13 rebounds and 10 blocks as the Centurions secured a nonconference victory.

Coastal Christian (10-10) got a game-high 12 points from Kristina Quigley. Sallie Newton notched six steals and four assists.

Natalie Leggett led WCA (9-8) with five points, while Hannah Iovanna collected 10 rebounds.

Other scores: Whiteville 44, West Bladen 22
