Boone County man sentenced on child pornography charges

BELVIDERE — Paul A. Celani, 74, has been sentenced to 3 1/2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on three counts of possession of child pornography.

He pled guilty on Jan. 18, according to Boone County State’s Attorney Tricia L. Smith.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department was tipped off by the Best Buy Geek Squad in July 2016 about child pornography found on a computer belonging to Celani.

Upon his release, he will have to register with the state of Illinois as a sex offender.
