Handling the media continues to remain a difficult task even for seasoned politicians with few managing to impress scribes on an assignment. However, when one does manage to do so, the event turns out to be an entertainer.

Prakash Javedkar
Chennai:
Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar who was in the city recently to inaugurate a research facility, seemed to possess the curiosity of a kid much to the amusement of journalists covering the event.
Upon spotting an e-cycle in the campus, the union minister didn’t think twice before riding the e-cycle in the campus and even tried riding a e-cart, which he just couldn’t move in the proper direction.
Yet, he somehow managed to ‘salvage’ the situation all this while ensuring the shutterbugs got the right shots. He also had the chance to go around the facility and was seen taking notes while the participants explained the products.
When the time came to giving his speech, he playfully instructed ‘sabko andar bulao’ (call everyone inside) and though it looked like he was getting late, he patiently waited for the cameramen to settle down after their best shot and instructed some crew members to make way for other to walk in. All this, despite the entourage around him.
Also it appears like he knows his Bollywood trivia well because he had references ready for situations. From narrating a Nana Patekar dialogue to asking students not to be a ‘Chatur’ a character from the movie 3 Idiots, Javdekar was on a roll. But, it remains a mystery as to how many vernacular journalists got his point.
