Fire crew battle serious house fire in Gisborne overnight

Firefighters battled a well involved house fire in Gisborne overnight.

Fire and Emergency were called to Sheehan St, Whataupoko in Gisborne shortly before 2am.

When crew arrived- in two trucks- the house was well ablaze, a central Fire and Emergency shift spokesman said.

Nobody was trapped or injured and crew spent hours extinguishing the fire.

A fire investigator would return to the scene this morning to make inquiries.
