Teens held for killing Piarco man

Two teenagers have been held for questioning in relation to the killing of a Piarco man who was gunned down at his home on Thursday night.

Police said the Francis Stafford, 33 was at his Oropune Gardens, Piarco, home around 11.30 pm when two gunmen stormed in and shot him. Police said Stafford shielded his wife when the gunmen opened fire.

Stafford, police said, had pending matters before the court for drug and gun possession.

Shortly after the killing, the teens, who live in the area, were held.

In an unrelated killing, the body of a man found nude on January 15 at Mt Lambert was identified by his mother on Thursday as Negus Thompson.

The 27-year-old of Farm Road St Joseph, commonly called Bangladesh, was strangled according to an autopsy report.

According to reports, around 10.30 am residents of Mt Lambert Circular contacted police after they noticed the body of a man lying in a bushy area off the road. The victim’s body was partially wrapped in a sheet and his head was covered with a T-shirt.
