Beckham says he'll reveal Miami MLS plans on Monday

Soccer icon David Beckham is finally set to reveal his plan for bringing a team to Miami.

Beckham and his group have called a news conference for Monday, inviting the public to attend for what they say will be "an important announcement on the future of soccer in Miami."

Beckham has been trying since 2014 to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to South Florida.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber is among those expected to attend, as are Miami-Dade County political officials. Other members of Beckham's group include Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure, entertainment entrepreneur Simon Fuller and South Florida businessman Jorge Mas. His bid to buy the Miami Marlins was unsuccessful last year.

The Miami Fusion were part of MLS from 1998 through 2001, folding because of poor attendance.
