Re-lay roads: traders

more-in

Stating that shopkeepers, traders and road users were affected due to the dust emanating from roads that were in poor condition, petitioners with their face masked came to the corporation office on Tuesday and submitted a petition.

Traders and shopkeepers from Annaji Street, Muthurangam Street, Prakasam Street, and Sivanmugam Street in their petition said that roads in these areas were dug for under ground drainage works two years ago.

A large number of shops and commercial establishments were located in the area as thousands of people use these roads everyday. But the pothole ridden roads pose threat to road users as pedestrians could not walk nor vehicles move freely.

The petition said that during rainy season the road turns slushy making it more dangerous. The dust emanating from the roads settles in shops affecting the health of those working there.
