SYRACUSE, N.Y.
The former mayor of Syracuse, New York says she's ruled out a Congressional bid but is seriously considering a run for governor.
In a New York Times interview, Stephanie Miner asserts that the approach of her fellow Democrat, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, has "not changed the dynamic of the upstate economy." She also criticizes his handling of the transit crisis.
State Democratic Party Executive Director Geoff Berman expresses disappointment that Miner won't be running against Republican Rep. John Katko. He calls the decision a blow to the party's efforts to make inroads into the Republican-controlled Congress.
However, when asked about the governor's race, Berman deflected, saying Cuomo's progressive agenda "sets a solid foundation for a third term."
