The Southern Oregon Spartans fell behind 3-1 in the first period before eventually losing 6-4 to the visiting Idaho IceCats in Western States Hockey League action on Thursday at The RRRink.
Joel Holmberg had two goals and one assist Thursday for the Spartans (9-27-0), who were outshot 62-22 for the game but still managed to outscore the IceCats 3-2 in the second period.
Also for Southern Oregon, Axel Low added one goal and two assists and Yanneck Kumli chipped in a goal and an assist, while Austin Toussaint came up with 56 saves in goal.
The IceCats (29-4-1), the first-place team in the Northwest Division of the WHSL, were led by two goals from Quinn Martin.
