Edinburg man accused of sexually abusing child

GRAFTON, N.D.—An Edinburg, N.D., man has been accused of sexually abusing a young child.

Jeremy Thomas Vrooman, 34, was charged Thursday in Walsh County District Court with gross sexual imposition, a Class A felony that carries a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

The victim, who is younger than 10 years, old said in court documents Vrooman would do "inappropriate stuff when he's drunk." She described trying to run away, but Vrooman grabbed her by the arm and told her not to run, according to court documents.

"Jane Doe ... stated she almost 'threw up,' " according to court documents.

Vrooman pleaded guilty in 2008 to a similar charge prosecuted in Benson County, according to the North Dakota Court System website.

Edinburg is about 30 miles northwest of Grafton, or 75 miles northwest of Grand Forks.
