CUPERTINO — A pair of 21-year-old women were arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of dollars worth of cosmetics from a Cupertino drugstore Tuesday night, authorities said.
The episode occurred just before 9:30 p.m. at the Walgreens near Bollinger Road and Bailey Avenue. Deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office burglary suppression unit were out patrolling when they spotted two women leave the store with large bags.
“It just didn’t look right,” said Sgt. Richard Glennon.
The deputies made contact with the women and determined that they had taken items from the drugstore without paying, Glennon said.
Deputies also searched the duo’s Honda Civic and discovered additional stolen cosmetics, Glennon said. Altogether, deputies estimated the value of the stolen cosmetics at about $8,000.
The women — identified as Menlo Park resident Cambria Romes and Antioch resident Shanel White — were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on charges of grand theft and conspiracy. Glennon said White also had a warrant.
