Reports about firing special prosecutor Mueller are ‘fake news’, says Trump

US President Donald Trump on Friday dismissed as “fake news” reports that he had ordered the firing of special prosecutor Robert Mueller last year but backed off when threatened by a top-level resignation.

“Fake news. Fake news. Typical New York Times. Fake stories,” Trump told reporters as he arrived to give a speech at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.
