It looks like Paul Bettany won't be appearing in Season 3 of The Crown, after all.
TV Guide previously reported that Bettany would portray Prince Philip for the Netflix series' third season, taking over the role from Matt Smith. However, according to BBC America, the British actor will not step into the role of the Duke of Edinburgh after Season 2.
While it's currently unclear who will portray Prince Philip in the upcoming season, Olivia Colman will play Queen Elizabeth II when Claire Foy finishes her tenure as the monarch. Plus, Helena Bonham Carter will become Princess Margaret after Vanessa Kirby.
The new season will see Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Princess Margaret take on new personal and political struggles as they enter middle age.
