A grand jury indicted William Hines Jr., of Burlington Township, on a charge of first-degree murder as well as two weapons offenses, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement Thursday.

Authorities said Hines and Scott Willis, 54, had an argument on Oct. 29.

Later, Willis went into the bathroom to take a shower and Hines followed and stabbed him several times before fleeing the apartment, according to the prosecutor's office.

Willis died six days later at Cooper University Hospital.

Hines, who was arrested a day after the stabbing, was initially charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges. The attempted murder charge was upgraded to murder following Willis' death.

He remains held at the Burlington County jail.
