Pontiac – With a fatal street shooting Thursday night, Pontiac’s homicide total this year has matched the entire number of slayings for all of 2017, investigators said Friday.

In the most recent death, a Pontiac man was found on the ground near a Woodward Avenue restaurant.

Dominique Grandberry, 33, was found laying on Earlmoor  Boulevard, south of Motor City Burger Co., about 7 p.m. Thursday. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies said he had several gunshot wounds to the midsection and was clutching the keys to a Chevrolet Suburban partially parked on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital about 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses said they saw two men approach the Suburban in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant about a half-block away north of where Grandberry was found. Witnesses said they heard gunshots and saw two men running away from the vehicle on Earlmoor. The only description provided by investigators were two black men: one suspect clad in a blue top, blue jeans and black shoes and the other dressed in a black top, black jeans and white shoes.

Pontiac recorded five homicides in 2017 and have had five in the first few weeks of January 2018. In 2016, there were 16 total slayings recorded in the city for the year.

A $2,500 reward is offered for information leading to the person or persons involved in Grandberry’s death. Tipsters should call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
