New Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was introduced on Friday. Shurmur's press conference got off to an inauspicious start when someone leaned against the light switch in the Giants' auditorium and the room went dark.
Shurmur laughed off the mishap and joked about the importance of making adjustments. Here are some key takeaways from Shurmur's first moment in the spotlight:

Shurmur made it clear that he intends to call the offensive plays. He isn't worried about losing sight of the big picture because of the support he'll have from the rest of the coaching staff. Shurmur said his offensive coordinator search is taking place behind the scenes right now. He said some candidates for his staff "are not quite available," which is an indication that he's targeting assistants from the Super Bowl teams.

Quarterback Eli Manning was the big winner on Friday. Shurmur and co-owner John Mara indicated that Manning's job security has never been stronger. Shurmur has already spoken to Manning on the phone and expects to have a very strong relationship with the quarterback. Shurmur said he thinks Manning has "years left."
