Capital rolls out multi-layer security for R-Day

The Delhi Police have geared up for Republic Day celebration with over 50,000 security personnel deployed across the Capital especially in New Delhi, Central and North district.

The police said that over 3,500 officers from the three districts and 7,200 additional cops have been roped in from the remaining 11 districts of which 600 are women officers.

“At least 1,000 CCTV cameras have been installed at prominent places to keep a tight vigil. Dog squads have also been deployed at market areas,” said Delhi Police Public Relations Officer Madhur Verma.

Not only Delhi Police, 63 companies of Paramilitary force have also been deployed along with 300 ITBP commandos and 200 NSG commandos. The police said that 450 door frame metal detectors have been set up for security checks and vehicular blockades for smooth movement.

Traffic police personnel will be deployed in large numbers to ensure “minimum inconvenience” and “maximum facilitation”.

The entry and exit from Central Secretariat and Udyog metro stations will be closed from 5 a.m. till 12 noon today. The entry and exit from metro stations Lok Kalyan Marg (formerly known as Race Course) and Patel Chowk will be closed from 8.45 a.m. till 12 noon.
