Thursday night's Scandal finally revealed what happened to Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes). Not only is the head of QPA still alive, she's also teaming up with Papa Pope (Joe Morton) to take down Olivia (Kerry Washington). While the unlikely partners might be on the same page for now, that doesn't necessarily make them buddies.
"I wouldn't say that they are friends," Katie Lowes tells TV Guide. "They have a common enemy at the moment and they have a shared belief system that B613 puts mothers and children first and that's the reason why Quinn's alive and it's the reason why her baby's alive. I think she's grateful to him for that but he's Papa Pope. You can't trust him as far as you can throw him."
Remembering not to trust Rowan has become all the more difficult given that he's turned into a doting father, buying Quinn food and baby clothes, and even making effort to improve her comfort while in captivity. Their twisted kinship, as odd as it is, has become a substitute for the kind of relationship that's been missing in their lives.
Scandal: What Really Happened to Quinn?
"I think there' some weird father-daughter stuff going on here. I think there's some part of Papa Pope's heart that really loved being a dad and hasn't been in a while," said Lowes. "I feel like Papa Pope has really taken to Quinn's baby and that experience. Quinn also didn't have a father much growing up so they're filling this really weird void for each other."
Despite Quinn and Rowan's bonding experience, however, Quinn still has her eyes on escaping which probably won't bode well for Papa Pope. "Quinn is such a badass, I wouldn't cage her up for too long. She's smart and she's wild and she's fierce," Lowes explained. "Now that she's a mom, I think she's gonna find a whole new side of herself that is even stronger than she was before."
