Police in southern Ontario are investigating after a man was found dead in the woods near the shores of Lake Erie.

Officers say a member of the public found the man while walking in a wooded area around Dunnville, Ont just south of Hamilton.

Police say the man's identity and cause of death are not known at this time.

The local OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are investigating.

Police have secured the area while the investigation is being conducted.
