Technology is a part of life that seems to distract everyone. Law enforcement officers are not immune to distracted driving especially when they are on duty.
On Wednesday, Jan. 24 and Thursday, Jan. 25, local law enforcement officers took a course on distracted driving at the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office.
The course, taught by Lynda Walker, program manager with the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA). Walker went over road safety rules and together the class discussed the risks and sometimes tragic consequences.
Law Enforcement officers are subjected to numerous and constant distractions that can rapidly lead to serious injury and death while operating an emergency vehicle. Distracted driving for peace officers course is to help law enforcement understand the risks associated with distracted driving.
