It's more than a memory.
Late Smithereens frontman Pat DiNizio of Scotch Plains will be paid tribute to during the “In Memoriam” segment of the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, the band has announced.
The broadcast begins 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 on CBS.
DiNizio, who passed away on Dec. 12 at the age of 62, will also be cited in the attendees' program book.

A DiNizio memorial show Jan. 13 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank brought out the greats of rock 'n' roll, including Dave Davies of the Kinks, Lenny Kaye and Tony Shanahan of the Patti Smith Band and Stevie Van Zandt.
The Grip Weeds will be leading the sold-out “Blood & Roses: The Court Tavern Memorial Tribute to Pat DiNizio” on Saturday, Feb. 3 in New Brunswick and Smithereens guitarist Jim Babjak will be part of the show. DiNizio’s sideband, the Scotch Plainsmen, will host a memorial for DiNizio on Sunday, February 25 at Crossroads in Garwood. Proceeds from both shows will go to DiNizio’s mom, Antoinette DiNizio, to help defray medical and burial costs.
U2, Rihanna, Lamar, SZA, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Pink, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Patti Lupone and Alessia Cara, Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Childish Gambino, Little Big Town Sam Smith, Ben Platt from “Dear Evan Hansen,” Logic and Khalid are set to perform on this year's Grammy show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Also, Brothers Osborne, Eric Church, and Maren Morris will perform a tribute to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas mass shooting. All three acts were performers at the festival.
