If Awami League gets another chance there will be no poverty in the country by 2024, says Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.
Otherwise, Muhith says, it will take more time as the economic development momentum will not continue.
The Finance Minister, however, said around 10-12 percent of the country's people like aged, widows, and physically and mentally challenged will remain below the poverty line as well as remain dependent on the state. The Minister made the comments while exchanging views with journalists marking his 85th birthday at the secretariat in the city.
Earlier in the morning, family members, relatives and admirers celebrated his birthday at his house.
