Hugh Masekela memorial service details announced

Cape Town - The Hugh Masekela Heritage Foundation has announced the details of the week-long memorial celebration, following the death of the world renowned musician.
Family of the late trumpeter said at press conference on Thursday that Masekela would be laid to rest during a closed funeral service attended by friends and family.
The foundation and family invites members of the public to say goodbye to Masekela during public events held around Johannesburg from 26 January.
The three events will roll-out as follows:
Hugh Masekela Heritage Park
The Hugh Masekela Heritage Park is an audiovisual celebration of Hugh Masekela's life, chronicling his six-decade tenure as an artist and social, political and cultural activist. A temporary visitors centre of sorts, the Heritage Park will feature visuals, footage and audio that reflect Masekela's rich and inspiring life journey.
Venue: Zoo Lake, Parkview - Johannesburg
Date: 26 January - 1 February, 2018
Time: 10:00 - 18:00 daily.
Heitada Alex! - Going Home
A commemoration of Hugh Masekela's life, hosted in Alexandra township, the home where he began his incredible journey in music. Friends, the artistic community and family will share their memories of this musical titan. Venue: Sankopano Community Centre, Corner 12th Ave & Selborne St - Alexandra, Johannesburg

The final public tribute to Masekela, the event is a musical celebration of this legends life, featuring a range of artists he collaborated with, influenced and loved. Venue: University of Johannesburg - Soweto Campus, Chris Hani Rd, Soweto.
