A fundraiser will be held this weekend for an Inman man who hopes to get a kidney transplant.

Volunteers will hold a fundraiser at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Inman United Methodist Church, 27 Bishop St., Inman, for 26-year-old Michael Holland.

Holland contracted H1N1 flu in 2008, and today suffers from end-stage kidney disease. Doctors have said a transplant is critical. The average transplant costs $335,000, and patients tend to still shoulder of lot of the costs, even after insurance.

Saturday’s fundraiser includes a $5 per plate hot dog dinner, which runs from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m.

There will also be $5 raffle tickets, with raffle prizes announced every hour. Bidding on a silent auction will begin at 11 a.m., with the last bids at 5:30 p.m.

Donations can also be made to the NFT South Carolina Transplant Fund, 5350 Poplar Ave., Suite 850, Memphis, TN 38119. Be sure to write “in honor of Michael Holland” on the memo line.

Secure donations also can be made online at www.transplants.org. Click on “Find an NFT Patient” and search for Holland.
