MANILA, Philippines — San Sebastian streaked to its third straight win with a 25-9, 25-22, 25-18 rout of Letran yesterday as it pressed its Final Four bid in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Joyce Sta. Rita fired a match-high 18 points, including 10 kills, five blocks and three aces to power the Lady Stags to another victory for an overall 4-2 card.
SSC thus joined Perpetual Help at third with Arellano U and San Beda pacing the field with identical 6-0 marks.
Sta. Rita’s game-long brilliance came on the heels of a career-best 28-point effort in a 25-20, 25-7, 29-31, 25-14 victory over Mapua last Tuesday.
“She’s not yet in the form I want her to be but she is getting there,” said SSC coach Roger Gorayeb of his prized ward, who honed her talent and skills in the Premier Volleyball League.
The Lady Knights dropped to 2-4.
Emilio Aguinaldo College eked out a 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12 victory over Mapua to end a five-game skid.
Ladeisheen Magbanua made 17 hits while Aira Binondo, May Lumbo and Yvette Tongco added 16, 15 and 13 markers, respectively, for the Lady Generals.
Mapua fell to 0-6.
