Man shot dead after stabbing police officer near Maroubra pub

A man has been shot dead after stabbing a police officer near the Maroubra Junction Hotel in Sydney's south-east, with witnesses reporting hearing "four or five gun shots".
Paramedics were called to Anzac Parade shortly after 3:00pm following reports a number of people had been injured.
They are treating a person with a stab wound to the upper torso, at least one other person has also been injured but police are not confirming the exact nature of those injuries.
They have been taken to St Vincent's Hospital.
Another man was shot at the scene and died from his injuries.
Nearby Maroubra Road has been closed and there is a large police presence in the area.
Alexandra, who was in the area at the time of the incident, said she heard a large commotion and saw people being removed from the pub in handcuffs.
"All of a sudden I heard four or five gun shots," she said.
