High St giant to open WORLD'S BIGGEST store in northern UK city

A TRAINER giant has announced it is opening its biggest shop in the world in a major UK city.

Foot Locker will soon be kicking open the doors to its giant flagship store in Liverpool.

The major footwear retailer will be taking over the former HMV outlet in the city’s plush Liverpool One complex.

It will span a massive 21,000sq ft across two floors in what is one of the biggest spaces available in the entire area.

And it will be the largest of Foot Locker’s 2,500 stores around the globe.

“Securing Footlocker is a reflection of our strategy of providing visitors with a highly compelling and relevant offer that is unavailable elsewhere,” said Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor, which runs Liverpool One.

“Along with the new HMV, the new stores will provide on-trend, exciting offers that further strengthen Liverpool ONE’s great mix of brands.

“An increasing number of retailers including Footlocker, JD Sports, and Nespresso have launched new stores concepts in Liverpool One, an endorsement of their performance and confidence.”

Work is ready to start on the store now after HMV vacated it on Saturday and moved into a new, smaller 13,000sq ft store on the same street.

The positive news comes after a hellish few months for the British High Street, with New Look most recently looking set to close dozens of shops across the UK.
